I build stuff after work and call it a hobby. Duel Hall is most of that.
By day I'm a data engineer — I move data around, make it make sense, and try to keep the cloud bill from getting scary. It's more fun than it sounds. Sometimes.
The rest of the time I'm here, making little games and tools nobody asked for. Duel Hall started as an excuse to learn things, and it kind of never stopped.
“Schema Wars: A SQL Fantasy Action Novel.” It's exactly what it says on the cover — a fantasy-action story where the magic system is SQL. Wizards writing queries, that kind of thing.
It's on Amazon here. I won't pretend it's for everyone. But if that premise made you grin instead of groan, it might be for you.
Honestly, Duel Hall's whole “games about clean rules” vibe kind of grew out of writing it.
I paint — slowly, badly, happily. It's the opposite of a job that's all logic and text, which is the point.
And I trek and travel whenever I can get away. Long walks, places I've never been, phone in a pocket. That's my reset button.
Bug reports, “please add X,” or just hello — all genuinely welcome.
