How to play

  • Standard rules. White moves first, then players alternate. Tap one of your pieces to see where it can go, then tap a highlighted square.
  • Check is shown with a red glow on your king — you must get out of it. Checkmate ends the game.
  • Castling, en passant and pawn promotion all work; promoting a pawn opens a small piece picker.
  • Draws: stalemate, threefold repetition, the 50-move rule, insufficient material, or a draw offer both players accept.
  • Online games are 10 minutes per side. Running out of time loses — there's no per-move limit, so think as long as your clock allows.

Chess

Classic chess, full standard rules. Play a friend online with challenges, a rating and match history, take on the built-in computer, or pass-and-play on one device.

Play online

Challenge a friend by name or code, or anyone in the lobby. A ready-check on both sides, a 10-minute clock each, and every result feeds a separate chess rating.

Vs the computer

A built-in engine that plays a solid, quick game entirely in your browser — no huge download, no Stockfish, no server.

Pass & play

One board, one device, no sign-in. The board flips for whoever's turn it is.

Full rules

Castling, en passant, promotion, and every draw condition — stalemate, threefold repetition, the 50-move rule and insufficient material.
